Not wanting to spend hours in the car, we decided to take the closer, lower, choice of Green Mountain. It was still about an hour's drive each way, but once there, it actually turned out to be quite nice. We began on GM-6 (Green Mountain 6) an old road, which was quite pretty, taking us past many beaver ponds, like the one pictured here. Unfortunately, about this time, our pleasant thoughts were interrupted by the unpleasant sounds of chain saws and trees crashing to the ground. We kept going, and never did see the loggers. By the time we got to the summit, the clouds were rolling in, making for an icy cold lunch break. We ate as fast as we could, then hurried back down the trail, instead of the road, making for a respectable 6 mile loop.

Nice. Looks like an easy pleasant winter hike which would ease our withdrawal until we can fully engage our hiking addiction this spring!
