Heron Island
June 5, 2014
The tides were just right this morning, high enough to launch our kayaks, so we loaded them up and went to Joemma Beach State Park. At first, we hugged the coast, heading north away from the park, along the waterway called Case Inlet which separates the Key Peninsula from Harstene Island. Once Heron Island came into view, we felt brave enough to cross the inlet and pulled ashore on a quiet beach below a high cliff on the island. After eating lunch, we decided to paddle around Heron Island, and we were rewarded by complete serenity, calm waters, and beautiful views of the island.
I honestly never realized before this outing that I was going to enjoy kayaking so much. Great exercise, great views, a little bit of danger, but not too much, and getting into the zone
