Huckleberry Creek Cross Country Ski Trip

There is so much snow right now, we just had to get out our cross country skis and head for what used to be our favorite sno-park at Huckleberry Creek.

Plenty of snow, even in the parking lot.  Also, some ice under the snow.

Hitting the trail

The first of sixteen big blowdowns

 I'm standing on about six feet of snow here

See our ski tracks in all that snow?

Forging ahead

A peek at Huckleberry Creek

Forging way ahead

First failed lunch stop attempt, too deep.

Backtracking to find a compressed snow spot to stop on the road

My skis and poles await while we sit in the snow for lunch

More blowdowns to navigate on our way out

This last big blowdown on the way out was so big, we had to take off our skis and carry them across.

Stats:
Roundtrip=about 9 miles
Elevation gain=about 800 feet
Snow depth=about 6-8 feet
Blowdowns= 16 in and 16 out
