A great hike and a great flower show.

| Marmot Pass |
| Beautiful blooming rhododendrons adorn the first part of the trail |
| For the first mile and a half, the beautiful Big Quilcene River keeps us company |
| After a couple of hours in the forest, the views start to open up |
| Then the trail crosses a very long and very steep slope. |
| Still climbing |
| Solomon's seal |
| Columbine |
| Phlox |
| Indian paintbrush |
| The trail melting out above Camp Mystery |
| A lone male mountain goat above the trail |
| Quite a few snowfields to cross |
| The last approach to the pass was snow free and perfumed by phlox |

| The Olympics to the west seem so close |

| Just for fun, here is picture from Marmot Pass, with sons Byron and Kris, 2013 |
After a lunch at the pass in complete solitude, we blissfully returned the way we came.

Very nice post. Marmot is a great hike with rushing streams, flowers, spectacular views, wildlife - and, of course, a great workout.
