A break in the rain means head for the mountain.
| Mt. Rainier from Pinnacle Saddle Trail |
| Walking along the closed Stevens Canyon Road to get to the trailhead |
| The start of the trail was snow free |
| But, as we ascended, we saw more and more snow. |
| Not scary at first |
| But more scary as the snow got deeper |
| And deeper |
| A struggling goat didn't do my confidence any good. |
| Steeper slopes, deeper snow |
| Almost there |
| There. Pinnacle Saddle with a brand new view of Mt. Adams |
| And the Goat Rocks |
| Looking back on Paradise from the saddle. The trail was just as precipitous as it looks. |
| Coming back down |
| One last shot of Mt. Rainier on our way out |
A wonderful hike on the one day of nice weather, plus we got to avoid watching the elections.
Stats:
Round trip including the walk on the Stevens Canyon Road = 6 miles
Elevation gain = 1200'
Hike/drive ratio =1
Date hiked = November 8, 2016
