Indian Island

Found another new location to walk the beach and look at the birds.  Who knew?

Our first visit to Indian Island County Park, dark clouds over the water

Walking the beach

Watching a Glaucous Sea Gull

Second trip to the same park, but different trail down to the beach

Walking on the spit of land between Puget Sound to the left and the lagoon full of birds on the right

Mt. Baker in the distance

A closer look at the lagoon

A typical Washington beach decked with eroding cliffs

Between the two trips, we identified the following birds: Black Oyster Catcher, Barrow's Golden Eyes, Red Breasted Mergansers, Hooded Mergansers, Buffleheads, Ruddy Ducks, American Wigeons, Eurasian Wigeons, Northern Pintails, a Juvenile Eagle, and of course, American Robins.

Very cold both trips, but also very fun.
