Took the ferry to Anderson Island, along with our kayaks, spent the night in a rental, then got up early the next morning for our adventure.
| Starting point at the Riviera Community Marina |
| The old boat ramp |
| Kayaks off loaded and ready to go |
| And we're off, heading north toward the ferry dock |
| The ferry dock |
| Eagle Island coming in to view, as we enter Balch passage |
| Keith in his kayak, with MacNeil Island in the background |
| Getting closer |
| Almost there |
| But first, we paddled around the island |
| Coming around |
| And around |
| And around |
| Then landing on Eagle Island |
| Pretty little beach |
| You can actually see the current starting to race through Balch passage |
| We navigated across it with no problems, the wind was a bigger hassle than the current, trying to blow us backward |
| Eventually we found a nice deserted beach to stop for lunch |
| The view from our lunch spot |
| Maidenhair fern and Pacific ninebark right where we were sitting. |
| Then back to the marina |
| "Threw" the kayaks on to the Rav4 and we were good to go |
This was about a 7 mile round trip paddle, lasting close to four hours. It was great fun. We can add this to the list of Puget Sound Islands that we have kayaked and circumnavigated: Tanglewood, Raft, Cutt's, Fox, Heron, Maury, McMikkon, Indian, Hope, and Ketron
