The Van Trump Park Trail in the Snow

The day was cold, but clear, and Mt. Rainier was calling.

We started on the Wonderland Trail at Longmire, encountering our first of many blowdowns
We reached this trail intersection after the first 1.8 miles

Looking at the Van Trump Park Trail, we saw no footprints in the fresh snow.

The virgin snow of Van Trump trail
Another blowdown to cross.

Bear grass and trail wearing their winter snow

Peaking through the trees to see the mountain

The view from our lunch spot on the ridge

Back to our car, still parked on ice.  No wonder we were cold.
