After a week of being at home with one thing or another, we headed for Mount Rainier, along with our bikes.
| First stop to take a look at the lovely river |
| Another shot of the Carbon River |
| After five miles on the road, we parked and locked up our bikes, and headed up the Wonderland Trail |
| We've hiked this trail so many times over the years, I think I recognize some of the ancient trees |
| Nice that someone added a rope on this precarious section of trail |
| At this point, the trail along the Carbon River is washed away, so everyone has to cross over here to the other side. |
| Many cairns, like this one, mark the long walk across the river bed. The black Carbon Glacier is in the center background. |
| There were several fast flowing sections of river to cross |
| Some had bridges |
| Some just had stepping stones |
| It was all gorgeous. |
| We stopped somewhere between two bridges to enjoy the river and lunch |
| A great shot by Keith of the Carbon Glacier and Mt. Rainier, taken from the riverbed |
| Yellow monkey flowers decorated the edges of the riverbed |
A lovely outing on the Carbon River, just like visiting an old friend.
