The Cowlitz Divide

Remembering this spot from backpacking the Wonderland Trail many years ago, we decided to check it out, taking a day hike in from the Box Canyon of the Cowlitz Divide

Our starting point

The ancient trees never fail to impress us

We had plenty of solitude.

At one mile, we crossed the bridge over Nickel Creek

Hmm, love that bear grass perfume

Striking bear grass steals the show

Once we got to the high country, we were rewarded with flowers and views

Sitka Valerian

Alpine asters

Views of the Goat Rocks

Mount Adams

Mt. Rainier in all her glory

Happy hiker
