Eleanor Creek

Just a little hike to celebrate feeling well.

We started at the Eleanor Creek trailhead on Forest Road 73

This is a funny sign, because the elevation is actually 4340'.  Big mistake by the forest service

Shooting stars, just as we started on the trail

Yes, we know that we are entering the park.

One of hundreds, a marsh marigold

Muddy trail

Beautiful Lake Eleanor

Another shot of the lake by Keith

Entering the lower part of Grand Park

Unfortunately, the clouds started to roll in bringing thunder and lightning, forcing us to turn around for safety

Magenta paintbrush

Wild strawberries in bloom

A whole field of shooting stars

Coming back in the rain, on some snow

A wet avalanche lily

Even though it was raining, we stopped at the lake on the way back for lunch

Coming back on the road, Keith got out of the car to get this great shot of Norse Peak, which we have hiked many times before.
We've done longer versions of this hike before, getting higher in to Grand Park
But for today, this was just fine.

Stats:
Round trip=4 miles
Elevation gain=800 feet
Hike/drive ratio=1/2
