La Push

First, thanks to Helen and Gordon, for telling us about the Quileute Oceanside Resort in La Push

Here is the first view from our cabin, looking right out to First Beach

Walking out to First Beach

Investigating the marine life near the south side of the beach

Anemones, stars, and mussels, oh my.

Next day, we took the nearby trail to Second Beach

Through the forest

Almost there

Walking across this pile of driftwood to get to the beach was a little challenging

Arriving at beautiful Second Beach was well worth the effort

More haystacks than some other, more famous beaches

We quickly got solitude, walking down the beach

Who says there are no sandy beaches in Washington?

Keith took this great shot.

Resting, back at our cabin

Back on First Beach in the late afternoon

The breakwater, at the north end of First Beach, with James Island in the background

On the breakwater

Watching the sun set after a wonderful day at the beaches

More than ten miles of beach walking, spread over two days, in a very special place. We were happy to talk to, and support, many Quileute tribe members while we were there.
