Circumnavigation of Ketron Island

First kayak trip of the summer, better late than never.

Starting at this ugly launch spot near the Steilacoom Ferry Dock, by the garbage, under the railroad tracks

Much nicer once we got away from all the bustle

An old abandoned marina on the left, Ketron Island on the right

Crossing the open water of Cormorant Passage, Anderson Island in the background

Approaching Ketron Island

Heading north to go counterclockwise around the island

Passing some beaches on the island

Coming around the northern point

Landing for lunch

Same spot, but so many yellow jackets here, we actually had to look elsewhere for lunch

Continuing around the island

Rounding the southern tip of the island

Heading north

Old ferry sitting on Ketron Island

By this time, having paddled around the island, the wind picked up big time as we headed back across the open water.  Nothing like a little challenge to end the trip.  One doesn't take pictures while crossing a windy passage.

Stats:
Round trip=6 miles
Paddle/drive ratio=4/1=4
