Cannon Beach Trip

This great October weather prompted us to get out and enjoy it.   Keith found us a place to stay and we headed for lovely Cannon Beach. on the northern Oregon Coast

Afternoon sun silhouetting Haystack Rock

Sunset

From our deck: the first stars come out over the driftwood fires on the beach

Inviting deck chairs

Early morning at Indian Beach, starting our hike over Tillamook Head

Indian Beach

Starting up the trail

Looking down from the trail to the shore 1000' below

The mighty Pacific

Coming to the top of Clark's Mountain, 1225'

Can't see the ocean for the trees

We're hiking exactly the same trail as Lewis and Clark traveled over 200 years ago

Many of the Sitka spruce are well over 500 years old

Coming back down

Haystack rock again in the hazy afternoon sun from our lunch spot

Gorgeous view, gorgeous weather

Back to Indian beach trail head; great hike, 8 miles with over 1200' elevation gain

Next day, stopped at the beautiful Willapa National Wildlife Refuge on the way home, just off highway 101

Unfortunately, the best part of the refuge was Long Island, only accessible by boat.

Still, a great trip, the beach, a hike, and the ocean.  No complaints
Thanks, Keith, for driving, and sorting the pictures and being a guest blogger again
Thanks, Kris and Jen, for the inspiration.

Glad to see you also went over the fence at the top of the hike, it makes all the difference in the view :) Jen
