Snow Lake and Bench Lake

Just a little hike on a cloudy day.

Mount Rainier clouds over as we start our hike

We are headed to Snow lake at the base of Unicorn peak...

...with Foss peak to the west.

A tarn next to Bench lake aside the trail

Passing Bench lake...

and continuing past Bench lake to climb toward Snow lake...

almost there

Crossing the log jam at the lake's outlet

The backpacking site at Snow lake where we camped 32 years ago.

Walking around the north lake shore....

...to our...

..lunch spot

with views to the west

...and east. The wind picks up and clouds get seriously wet and wintry....so we decide against climbing the peak...

and head back...

down the trail...

toward home.

Just for fun, we remembered doing this hike on a hot day in August 2012, with all of our offspring.

Here are the girls at the trailhead, getting ready to start the hike.

Keith took this shot of the rest of us, overlooking Bench Lake

Quinn was so hot and tired that she had to rest her head on a hiking pole.

Same lunch spot
Unicorn peak in the summer.
Our memories were the best part of this hike.
