What a perfect day for a hike at Mount Rainier. We started at Reflection Lake and accessed the Wonderland Trail briefly and then started up the Lakes Trail.
| Here is our starting point at the far end of Reflection Lake |
| Coming up the Lakes Trail |
| Far Away Rock |
| A beautiful trailside tarn with no name |
| At first, just a little snow on the trail |
| More snow as we ascended |
| And more snow |
| And more snow |
| After about two and half miles the Lakes Trail ended, and we arrived at the Skyline Trail and took a right |
| For the first time, the mountain began to peek out |
| Marsh marigolds and glacier lilies also peeking out |
| The swirling clouds just add to the beauty of the trail |
| Another Mount Rainier specialty, the magenta Indian paintbrush |
| As we continued going up the Skyline Trail the Mountain was really coming out |
| The Stevens Memorial Rock |
| For a minute there, it was warm enough to take my jacket off. |
| Just past the Memorial Rock, we headed off the Skyline Trail and on to the Paradise Glacier Trail |
| The mostly Paradise Glacier Trail was mostly snow covered |
| Looking to our left from the Paradise Glacier Trail |
| Looking to our right from the Paradise Glacier Trail |
| A spectacular shot by Keith looking east from the Paradise Glacier Trail |
| I couldn't resist another shot of the mountain from our lunch spot |
| A marmot who joined us for lunch |
| Some nice avalanche lilies trembling in the sunshine on our way out |
What a great hike, about 9-10 miles round trip.
