So Many Islands in the Sound

Our first kayak trip of the year was a little jaunt from the Fox Island Bridge.
The Fox Island Bridge boat ramp at high tide

Our lunch spot on the far side of Fox Island, overlooking McNeil Island

Paddling back with a view

Artsy shot of the mountain between the kayaks and the roof of the RAV

Our second trip of the season, was a bigger jaunt, starting from the obscure Rosedale boat launch
If you blink, you will miss the path on the left side of the photo

The kayaks have to be carried down this rough path

But then, it's beautiful, as you come around Raft Island and see little Cutt's Island
Cutt's island is a state park only accessible by boat
We circumnavigated the island, then stopped there for lunch.

Then, just for fun, we crossed the water over to Kopachuck State Park

View from the kayak

Going by Cutt's Island again on the way back from Kopachuck park
Then, under the Raft Island Bridge

And back to the beach at Rosedale.

Our third kayaking trip was a brand new spot for us.  We launched from Arcadia boat ramp, near Shelton
Hope Island, seen from the boat launch

The open water was only a little bit choppy

The entire island is an undeveloped state park

We landed on a beach to take a look around

The island in the background is Squaxin island, an Indian reservation.

Hope Island has trails in the interior as well as a campground

Those two back dots on the right are racoons foraging for food

We circumnavigated the island, passing by this picnic area

Here we are, back at the Arcadia Boat launch where we started.
Who knew kayaking could be so much fun.  I'm loving Washington these days.
