We have been feeling very hiking deprived for various reasons, so today we decided on Gobbler's Knob, a hike we haven't done since 2005.
| We started at the Lake Christine Trail head near Ashford. After only a mile and half, here is pretty Lake Christine |
| Another shot of Lake Christine, elevation 4800' |
| And another as we walked around the Lake |
| We continued on the Lake Christine trail up until it ended at the Puyallup Trail, so called for no apparent reason, since the Puyallup River is nowhere near the trail. |
| After a couple of miles downhill, we reached Goat Lake, elevation 4400' |
| Keith at Goat Lake |
| Me at Goat Lake, enjoying the sunshine |
| A butterfly, enjoying Keith's yummy pack |
| Then it's back on the trail, going up again |
| Gobbler's Knob, coming into view |
| Gobbler's Knob |
| Mt. Rainier, from Gobbler's Knob |
| Lake George, looking east from Gobbler's Knob |
| Goat Lake, from Gobbler's Knob |
| Saying good-bye to Mt. Rainier as we start back down the trail |
| One last shot of the lookout |
An interesting hike, after ten years.
Some stats:
Round trip = 10 miles
Elevation gain=1700' in, 600'out
Hiking time=6 hours
