You would never know it, but Palm Springs has a river running through it called the Whitewater. North of the city, the headwaters are beautiful and wild.
| We loved this road sign on the drive in to the Whitewater Preserve |
| A pretty little man-made pond at the start of the hike |
| Some late season blooms in the desert |
| The trail goes right across the Whitewater Riverbed |
| The junction with the PCT |
| First, we went south on the PCT to get a view of the river valley |
| Another late bloom in the desert |
| Back on the desert floor, going north on the PCT |
| And yet another bloom in the desert |
| Stopping at Red Dome |
| The view back down the river valley |
A nice little hike up and down the PCT
