Green Lake at Mount Rainier

We decided to get one last hike in before the clouds and rain returned.
Green Lake

We started here on the Carbon River Trail

We were immediately enchanted by the ancient forest

After a couple of miles, the road opens up with views of the river and Mother Mountain

It was nice to get off the road and onto a real trail

Ranger Falls in all its spring glory

There was only a little snow as we neared the lake

Green Lake, with Arthur Peak to the right and Tolmie Peak in the distance.  The logs made a perfect lunch seat.

Nurse logs across the trail doing their job
It was at least ten years since we did this hike and at that time you could drive to the trailhead.  Adding the extra miles to walk to the trailhead actually seemed like an enhancement on this beautiful spring day.

Statistics
Round trip=11 miles including side trip to Ranger Falls
Elevation gain=1500 feet
