Wagonwheel Lake

We had tried this hike before, fourteen years ago.  I think we might have vowed never to do that again.  However, today seemed like a good day to make it to Wagonwheel Lake.
Wagonwheel Lake

The sign just seems to be a dare

The trail is gentle only at the very beginning
Then it starts ascending steeply through the forest

After twenty five switchbacks, some blooming rhododendrons appeared to break the monotony

The trail then just goes straight up a long ridge

Up and up

Hmm.  Avalanche lilies, must be snow ahead

Not only was there snow to cross, but the fog and mist were really rolling in

Plenty of pretty trillium in bloom

It was cold, but we made it.  Wagonwheel Lake

Since we were so cold, we hurried back down as fast as we could, proud that we completed this hike

Stats:
Elevation gain=3200feet
Round trip=6miles
Hike/drive ration=5/4=1.25
Date hiked=5/24/2016

Very nice. I really like the way you tell a story with your pictures in this and all your posts.
