We had attempted this hike four years ago and had to turn back because of snow. So, after waiting two weeks for good weather, we decided today would be a good day to hike to Lake Caroline.
| The flower show was spectacular |
| After spending the previous night camped out on Icicle Creek, we got an early morning start |
| Indian paintbrush, in an unusual pink color |
| First stop, after two and a half miles, Little Eightmile Lake |
| Almost missed this sign, where we turned right |
| Trail, what trail? It was very brushy and overgrown in the lower elevations |
| Looking down on Eightmile Lake as we continued to get higher |
| Wooly sunflowers perhaps? |
| More Indian Paintbrush and lupine |
| Scarlet Gilas |
| The trail kept climbing |
| Looking out at old friends: Mt. Colchuck, Dragontail and the route up to Aasgard pass |
| Mt. Stuart looking magnificent in this shot by Keith |
| Eventually we got into the high meadows |
| Finally, we reached the crest and there was Lake Caroline |
| Lake Caroline, getting ready to stop for lunch |
The walk down was just as pretty as the hike up, views and flowers galore, a great day in the mountains
Stats:
Round trip=11.5 miles
