Comet Falls and Van Trump Park Revisited

Must hike, it has been two weeks!  We headed to Mt. Rainier and the Comet Falls trailhead

Van Trump Creek, just a preview of things to come

In to the forest

Starting to see the mountain through the smoky haze

Some big boulder fields to get through

Across the log footbridge, almost there

Bloucher Falls, as seen from the footbridge

Comet Falls in all her glory, great photo by Keith

Ascending the rooty trail above the falls

Higher, and also closer, to the falls

Fields of asters
Getting higher
And higher

Pretty Bog Gentians

Almost there

There.  Mt. Rainier from Van Trump Park

Another view of Van Trump Park

And another view of Mt. Rainier, so close

Just soaking in all the beauty.  Plus, we got above the smoke, at about 5700' elevation

Saying goodbye to the mountain, to return the way we came
Stats:
Round trip=7 miles
Elevation gain=2100'
Hike/Drive Ratio=5/4=1.25

Thanks, Keith, for taking such splendid pictures.
